With Patience, Tokyo Flash Watch Tells Time

kisai denshoku watch With Patience, Tokyo Flash Watch Tells Time

As a fashion statement, Tokyo Flash’s Kisai Denshoku watch isn’t bad, with its aluminum construction and choice of two colors. Telling time’s sort of a chore, though. A button on the side activates a series flashing LED lights, illuminating the orange bars on the face. The first flash indicates the hour, so if you see 6 bars, it’s 6 o’clock. The next flash indicates minutes in intervals of ten. Finally, a third flash tells you the exact minute. Put it all together, and you’ve a method that’s slightly easier creating your own sundial. It’s yours for $236. [Toyko Flash via Dvice]

Flashy New Bling: Tokyoflash Kisai Sensai

sensai watch Flashy New Bling: Tokyoflash Kisai Sensai

Let’s face it–watches are more about style than they are about telling the time. You have at least 2 or 3 other devices that can just as easily inform you of the time of day; watches are really to convey a certain sense of who you are. The new Kisai Sensai LED aluminum watch from Tokyoflash capitalizes on this notion by officially putting time in the backseat and strapping a visually-intriguing array of LEDs on your wrist. You have to press a button just to view the time, which is displayed by a series of red, yellow and green LEDs. The time reading is preceeded and succeeded by a rotating LED light show. Clearly this watch is all about style. Now, whether your style is to have a bright, flashing LED show on your wrist is a whole different question. If so, buy in is $260 and various strap and casing color options are available. [Slippery Brick]

Timex Expedition WS4: View the Time Widescreen Edition

timex ws4 Timex Expedition WS4: View the Time Widescreen Edition

For the past decade or so, the widescreen has taken over home entertainment. Whether it be an uber-thin LCD or home projector with a big white wall, everything seems to look a little nicer in widescreen. Testing the scope of the trend, Timex decided to see if widescreen could even make time look better. Indeed, it appears that it has. The Timex Expedition WS4, due for release this May, is a standard multi-function outdoor sports watch with altimeter, barometer, compass, chronograph and thermometer, all displayed on a large widescreen. Wear it around town and let everyone know that you’re a balla that escapes the hassles of everyday life to heli-drop into the Amazon once or twice a month. The widescreen ensures that 4 separate measurements are easy-to-read and crystal-clear. Retail set for $199.

The Nixon Murf Watch

While it has been a favorite of ours for some time, we’re surprised we haven’t shared the Nixon Murf Watch on GearCrave yet.  If you know us, we’re sold on two characteristics: 1) the wood grain veneer first and foremost, and 2) the jump-hour style time display.  The Murf is available in a selection of colors and band materials, but the shiny steel version with the wood is our personal favorite.  Yours for $350, this is one hell of an eye-catching piece of horophile’s glory.

Expanding their palette of colors into more readily available releases, Casio G-Shock has created a new collection for the 2008 fall/winter season which features the theme “Crazy Colors”. Each design features highly contrasting colorways to create a series of bold timepieces. The styles revolve around two of G-Shock’s most popular models, the DW-6900 (round) and the DW-5600 (square).  If you’ve been rocking Casios since the 80s (as we’ve actually heard from some of you via email), these are certainly a welcome addition to your collection.

The Nixon Connect Watch

Generally, we’re not big on watches with polyurethane bands.  We’ll take leather, stainless steel or other materials, most polyurethane watches are sporty– an adjective we don’t like to use on anything other than cars.  The Nixon Connect Watch, on the other hand, totally changes our opinion.  This sexy digital beast features a 28k gold-coated case with a high style display.  Beyond the time, the Connect watch has city displays which offer an easy readout for the frequent jetsetter.  Throw this watch on your wrist and you’ll likely have a hard time getting anything done without staring at it…
