Archos has announced a new line of netbooks based on Intel’s mobile processors. The Archos 10S is expected to hit store shelves in April and will have a 10-inch screen, 3.5G functionality, and WiFi capabilities. One of the most astounding things about the netbook is its size. The 10-inch book comes in at just 20mm thick. The computer will have a 160GB hard drive and will run Windows XP. The company didn’t announce any pricing for the computer when they dropped its specs, but similarly spec’d computers typically run in the $400-$450 range, so you can expect the Archos 10s to be priced in that general area. Archos has announced what very well might be the first French netbook. The Archos 10 has an Intel Atom N270@ 1.6GHz, XP Home, 1GB of RAM, a 10.2” WXGA LED Backlight screen, 160GB of HDD, and a 1.3Mpix web camera. This is the first netbook created by the company (who usually produces DAPs and PMPs) so it’s an interesting move. No word yet on pricing or when (or if) we could see these available in the US. Lately, streaming Internet content to your TV via set-top boxes has become more mainstream. If you don’t already have one, chances are that you might before 2008 ends… Not only does the Archos TV+ let you surf the web, check email and stream online videos, but it includes a 250 GB hard drive that allows for storing of your favorite shows for later viewing, essentially saving you precious pennies by eliminating the need for Tivo.
