In the last decade, the trend in the wristwatch world has been growing bigger, bolder, and more involved. While much of this is right up our alley here at GearCrave, Diesel’s new DZ7091 wristwatch is a timely departure from what is becoming standard. The DZ7091 features a gorgeous, slender metallic timepiece with a silver leather band. The digital LED display shown above appears on a naked mirror faceplate when evoked by the push of a button. We salute Diesel for this fresh new design, a reflective take on minimal futurism.
There’s more to come, GearCravers. The DZ7091 was one of our favorites from Diesel’s new Basel 2008 collection… which we’ll be sharing with you over the next week. Check back for more previews of Diesel’s vivid new timepieces.

The Twelve 5-9B is yet another futuristic design from the always-fun Tokyo Flash. This one gives the boot to the traditional hours/minutes/second hand in favor of a more old-school Battlestar Galactica design. If the old robotic Cylons wore timepieces, this is the one that would be welded to those mechanical wrists. This is a unisex robot watch with a leather band and stainless steel case. By your command, Lord Baltar.

Bell & Ross present the Instrument series. These new watches take us back to an earlier time when guys like Charleton Heston, Lee Marvin, and Charles Bronson were flying around in helicopters and bombers, storming through enemy territory and causing mayhem with a cigar firmly wedged in their jaws. These are watches made for what Bell & Ross call “professional use”. No surprise that the company website features dudes in military gear…these watches look tough enough to take both the pounding you get and the one you’re about to dish out.

Press the button on this great Pleasure Seeker watch by Toyko Flash, and this watch lights up three times per minute for more than ten minutes–it’s called the “pleasure seeker mode” and it doesn’t really matter what time it is, as long as you’re attracting some attention to yourself at just the right moment. Stainless steel construction and a men’s standard-size band make this great for casual wear, especially when your friends need to spot you inside a darkened movie theater. Just press the button and let them find you…

Tokyo Flash is a Japanese company that makes Blade-Runneresque watches like The Equalizer High Frequency. This stainless steel timepiece is easy to ready and definitely makes an impression. The band is only 29-millimeters wide, joined to the 50 millimeter rectangular case. It’s water-resistant to 99 feet, but when you’re that far underwater, do you really care what time it is? This one’s great when you’re in a crowded elevator when you want to make a minor stir just for the hell of it. Casually slide your hand out of your coat pocket and…check the time. It’s the kind of trick you can only pull once in a blue moon, so save it for a special occasion.

Hyundai’s W-100 cell phone watch makes your James Bond dreams come true, minus the wrist-laser. Mp3 player, Bluetooth, a 1.3mp camera. Back in the 60s they would call that a “spy camera” but since everybody’s using tiny little lenses these days, spies are going to have to come up with something else to stay cutting-edge on the secret snapshots tip. This GSM phone stores media (including video) on a micro-SD card, and as a timepiece it’s no clunkier than any sports watch on the market. Check out the lens placement on that camera! You have to point your wrist like a goofy Power Ranger to take the pics, but as long as you aren’t in the middle of a chop-socky fight sequence, there’s no problem, right?
