Industrial hi def projectors are not cheap– and neither are their bulbs. What’s more, if your projector is mounted out of reach, changing a bulb can be nothing short of a pain in the ass. The newly revealed Sanyo LP-XTC50 features two operation modes that save your lamp from wear and tear. First, “alternating mode” allows the switching between two projectors when the lamp has taken its peak amount of heat. In “relay mode”, one lamp is used until it burns out and then another bulb replaces it. Like we said, this one isn’t cheap– its expected to arrive in early January for just over $10k. Fans and prospective customers of VUDU will be happy to learn that the internet video-on-demand service will now be offering 1080p resolution rentals. Starting with 65 titles, then continuing with every new release, VUDU customers can view movies at the highest resolutions available. There is one snag– due to the sheer size of these 1080p videos, there is a four hour download time. As long as you plan ahead, you’ll be able to watch the latest films in all their 1080p glory. New VUDU customers will also be glad to know that VUDU is offering a $200 credit off of the normal $300 system, available at BestBuy. [vudu]

Best flat-panel TV ever? Our friends at CNET think so. The Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO-111FD has received CNET’s first ever “10″ rating for a flat-panel TV. According to CNET, the Pioneer Kuro Elite has produced the “deepest black levels we’ve tested”, and the most accurate color they’ve seen in a TV. The only negatives CNET pointed out were the hefty price of the Kuro Elite, plus mediocre standard definition processing. If you’ve got $4k stacked aside for a 50″ flat panel, you’re absolutely not going to find a better set than this one. Check out the full review over at CNET… [pioneer]

What’s one more iPod dock, really? Its like a thousand greedy tech bastards got around in their non-smoking jackets and thought, “we’ve absolutely got to make some money on this iPod thing!”. This one, however, takes a step outside of the masses by trying to be everything to everyone– and doing so successfully. The i1255 is basically the Swiss army knife of iPod gadgets. The il255 connects to your TV to play DVD’s and docks ipod video to your television, audio to your receiver with a remote control to fully integrate with the rest of your home theater rig. All it needs now is a little beer bottle opener thingy on the side. Then we’d buy one for SURE. Ya listening, i-Luv? [$149 at i-luv]

Mitsubishi’s latest rear-projection television release is not only huge, efficient and as sharp as 1080p can get, its also 3D capable right out of the box. The Mitsubishi LaserVue TV uses lasers to display crisp visual reproductions of your TV, movies and video games. This rear projection model is likely too thick to be wall mounted (at 10″ deep), but that space allows for this laser technology that wouldn’t fit into a conventional flat panel. The price has not yet been released, but you can expect to pay a premium for these two new and incredible TV technologies: laser-precision and 3D capability. Haven’t we been expecting this since we were kids? [thanks gizmodo]
