Guitar Hero fanatics can now go on tour. ChipChick did a hands-on with this miniature “carabiner” version (that’s their photos above) and report that while the screen is worth every penny you paid for it (but not much more), this under-twenty is both a guilty pleasure and a great gift for anybody with metal on the brain. The teeny-tiny portable version of Guitar Hero is the brainchild of Basic Fun, and we thank them for giving commuters another reason to stay off their cell phones in crowded airplanes, subways, and Starbucks.

Sony dropped the Mylo 2 internet communicator at CES 2008, calling it “all the fun of a PC in your pocket.” The updated Mylo 2 includes a 3.5-inch touchscreen, wi-fi, and is AIM, Google Talk, and Skype friendly. Mylo 2 is also fully YouTube-able, and includes a 1.3 megapixel camera and a photo editor. Some reviewers are pointing out that the lack of Bluetooth is a serious bummer, and we have to agree but regardless, it still looks pretty fun. Price? Under $300.

If you don’t know what UMPC means, it’s time you got an update. Could this be the start of computing 3.0? No way to tell, this gear is too new to call in terms of overall popularity and sales trends. And no, these are NOT laptops, they’re far too small. Pocket-sized PC power, with ultra-efficient battery technology and some pre-loaded with Vista Business and on-the-go business software. Some of us road warriors need an ultra-light laptop to stuff in that shoulder bag, something small and unobtrusive enough to get work done on the plane, in the cab, and between power meetings with the bigwigs from HQ. The Sony Vaio TZ is just the thing for work and travel; this is a 2.7 pound tool for power travelers who want to get work done instead of frying the eyeballs playing another round of Half Life 2. Those giant gamer-friendly screens add a lot of weight and bulk, don’t they? The Vaio TZ’s 11-inch screen, 100gb hard drive, dual core 1.06gig Intel processor, and quad-mode wi-fi make this a truly crave-worthy business expense. Did we mention the pre-installed Vista Business and (subscription-required) Sprint-ready Broadband WWAN service?

The wireless revolution is already here, so why not go tapeless too? Sony’s HDR-SR7 records directly to a 60-gig hard drive. No more tapes to buy, no playback heads to clean, and best of all, no more boxes of old tapes to sift through after you’ve shot a year’s worth of footage or so. It records and plays back in both HD and standard mode. There’s also a memory stick slot for stills, and it has a 2.7 inch viewscreen that lets you view in 16:9. Shooting options include a super nightshot mode letting you shoot with infrared up to ten feet away. It’s not technically the holiday shopping season yet, but there’s no law against getting an early present, is there?

The pocket-sized Sony Cybershot T200 features 8.1 megapixel picture quality and 5x optical zoom. The lens does not extend from the camera, so this camera is always flat as a deck of cards and not much wider than your platinum Visa. The 3.5-inch LCD display has a crisp 920 x 240 display, and the presets for the T100 are getting rave reviews. Take it out of the box, pop in an memory stick and take up to 8 gigs worth of pics (with the right memory stick)! There’s a quirky little feature in this one called “Smile Recognition,” which may sound like some kind of bizarre Orwellian Homeland Security game, but could make your next photo session much more amusing.
