Aquavision is taking TV to new extremes with a 57-inch waterproof television for the shower/bath, and the outlandish TV/towel rack combo. For both models, the television screen looks like a mirror when the unit is turned off. This should be quite exciting for anyone so addicted to the tube that they can’t fold the towels without checking out who’s getting sent back to Hell on Reaper or what exotic disease-of-the-week is festering in a halpless patient on House. Too bad the writer’s strike is on, eh? You’ll just have to soak in the tub and watch Jim “Mad Money” Cramer rant about the stock exchange.

The Logitech Harmony One is yet another CES 2008 gadget with a touch screen. This one is a remote control replacement, letting you ditch up to 15 other remotes in favor of this one. The touchscreen lets you select a variety of functions; “watch a DVD” , “Listen to music” and “Watch TV” are all in there and give you access to the deeper control features you’ll need. We have all sorts of extreme sports, finally someone has created a gizmo that can be safely branded Extreme Couch Potato. One day in the near future, Logitech will devise something that works exactly like this, but with no buttons at all–it will read your brainwaves instead. Til then, this lovely $250 uber-remote control will do nicely, thanks.

The Consumer Electronics Show 2008 in Vegas hasn’t even officially kicked off yet,and already cool gadget news is trickling from Sin City. Among the early reporters is this sweet iLuv combo DVD/iPod player. We love the integrated iPod slot, and while we’d never encourage you do to anything illegal, this sort of setup does seem to have an appeal to a certain sort of person who might connect a DVD player to a laptop. The player lets you view iPod video onscreen just like an ordinary DVD, so it does have its handy legit uses, too. All those TV show downloads via iTunes and Amazon are now much more accessible for home use, and with a price tag set below $200, this is awfully tempting. This is slated to drop in March.

Looking for something to aspire to? Some people say “I want to be rich enough to sleep on a bed of money”, but now you can set your sights on the gold standard with this 24-karat gold remote control from Lantic Systems. The Danish company announced it would begin shipping the Gold RC-1 in December ‘07, and controls televisions, DVD players, and there’s a button labeled “Internet”. The boring non-precious metals version of this retails at over a grand. Try and guess how much the gold one costs, and whatever figure you came up with, add a zero. This sucker costs a staggering $55,000. But it DOES have that “Internet” button.
