Maigrau presents this unique leaning lamp design. The Luca takes advantage of your existing space and lets you position it in parts of the room you wouldn’t otherwise think of putting a lamp in…to be frank, this design probably requires a bit of an open mind since it leans rather than stands on its own, but think of the possibilities! Pull out that couch a bit and you could have a great corner lamp for reading. Reposition it in the center of a dull, flat space and surround with some greenery to create a nice oasis of light and color. There are too many possibilities to list…

Pharos lamps come individually in one of the many stylish colors pictured here. Each lamp is five inches wide and 12 inches high and comes with a tubular 12ov bulb. They feature a black canopy but white is also available on request. The Pharos pictured here allow light to stream through, but you can also get these in an opaque version if you prefer it. These are best used in combination with a dimmer, so if you’ve been planning on installing some anyway here’s the perfect excuse to speed up that little home improvement project.

Can we just say “wow”? Neuland’s Random book storage solution features compartments of, yes, random size. These attach in the back so there are no visible fasteners to mar that pristine white look. Put a couple of these in a room and you could probably store damn near every book you own . . . or at least most of them. The only thing missing here is a bright red rolling stepladder for contrast.

1 Contemporary has a serious collection of modern lighting like the Chains series pictured above. These designs in red and blue combine rich textured panels with smooth light sources in patterns that will enhance a section of empty wall in small spaces or draw attention to a section of larger rooms. The mod/retro look is great, but we find the 1 Contemporary website design to be a bit baffling–where are the prices for these? The order form is daunting, and this company does not accept credit card orders online. We suggest calling them before faxing your credit card number as suggested for online orders.

The ultra-mod Sputnik has 24 arms with 12 chrome lights and 12 chrome balls; it can be used as either an eye-grabbing table lamp or a placed on the floor. It stands 23 inches high, measuring about 14 inches around without the chrome bulbs. You’ll need to locate a voltage adapter for this one as it was designed in Europe, but why should the EU have all the cool decor? Designed by Paul de Haan, this sells for just under $400 US.

Just stick them right onto the wall, and you’ve got an instant taste of Monmartre (pictured above) or perhaps a simple French window design, carefully placed. Marcel Duchamp was the artist who made art history by turning a toilet upside down and putting it on display as an art piece titled Fountain. One of art history’s inveterate pranksters AND a serious artist at the same time, Duchamp is legendary. Now BetterWall.com immortalizes Duchamp and the Dada art movement with these limited edition vinyl wall hangings. Others in the series include the sold-out Andy Warhol and Ansel Adams, but this Duchamp hanging is one of the most visually striking of the lot. As you can see, it looks great in any living room or home office with modern decor.
