Last week, we launched GearCrave’s new design, a layout we had been working on for quite some time. We asked you what you thought, and the response was a resounding “yes!”. We’ve got a few more tweaks to work out, we’ve got some older images to fix and some other tasks ahead. We’re happy about this design, and look forward to building a better, stronger GearCrave in the future. Want to help? Tell your friends about us! If your friends are anywhere near as cool as you are, we’d be honored to have ‘em around. Send ‘em an email, shoot ‘em an IM, welcome them to GearCrave. Until then, continue reading below for GearCrave’s favorite articles from last week.

Last week, GearCrave launched its first Girl of the Week column, where we’ll be featuring a beautiful, brainy babe each week to help make GearCrave even prettier. Our first feature was Carmen Kass, the Estonian supermodel, chess player and politician. Each month, we’ll run one original feature with an exclusive interview, plus three or four model spotlights. Rest assured, GearCravers, that you’ll never see a brainless, plastic bikini or car model. Since we’re about the best stuff in the world here on GearCrave, we only share women of substance with you. Continue reading, GearCravers, to see more of what you may have missed last week.

Last week was shorter than normal here at GearCrave. We were a little tied up with the weather here in Iowa, as shown earlier today. Short or not, we had some exciting gear to cover as always. Your editor’s pick is the Nixon Big Rig watch, a wild piece of wristwear from the creative cats at Nixon. We’re amateur horologists here at GearCrave, with a serious case of watch-lust. In other news, GearCrave had plenty more to talk about last week. The usual great giveaways, product shots and editorials galore. Continue reading for the editors picks from last week.

Last week was a week of watches at GearCrave. We featured a very popular giveaway with Obaku Harmony watches, which received quite a lot of love from GearCravers. In other watch news, we found the Sentio Digital Tactile watch, a beautiful, rugged metal watch designed to be invisible to its target wearer: the blind. This watch for the blind displays the time by using raised metal pieces which show the time like a classic digital, but to be felt– not seen. This received quite a bit of attention on the web, and GearCravers loved this one. Did you miss anything else on GearCrave? Continue reading for our weekly bullet point ritual.

GearCrave was busy last week. We ran our first feature week, covering the growing green condo trend in the US. We ran a GearCrave giveaway for the new Indiana Jones movie, giving away three Indiana Jones box sets. On top of all that, we brought the every-day product shots GearCravers love. Your editor’s favorite was the post on Nooka’s Zoo watches, shown above. The Nooka Zoo line of digital watches with 6 liquid crystal displays are available in black leather, white leather, and mirror metal. We love the white band Nooka Zoo, and will likely have ordered one by the time we finish this post… In the mean time, continue reading for the list of our favorites from last week!

Last week, GearCrave posted an article on a revolutionary new web service called Evernote. Evernote is a visual memory service designed to help you remember everything you see: be it on the web, in a book, on a wine label or written with lipstick on a napkin. Snap a photo of something you have written down that you want to remember, Evernote will store it, automatically recognize the text and index it in your personal memory library. If you’re the forgetful type, or you adore new web organizational services, check out our full write-up on the Evernote technology– and sign up to receive a free private beta invite from GearCrave.
If you missed that and more, continue reading after the break to catch up on the GearCrave glory.

Last week, GearCrave asked you, dear reader, what you think about us adding a weekly feature called “Girl of the Week“. 119 of you answered– 85% of you thought it was a great idea, while 13% of you were a little cautious. These results have helped us decide that we will be featuring a GearCrave Girl of the Week beginning later this month. To the 13% who didn’t like the idea, we assure you GearCrave will never be a Maxim magazine or feature purely T&A. Our goal is to find and feature women with as much brains as beauty, and to feature them as personalities– not just pretty faces. High caliber women are an important part of the fine lifestyle for men, so we thought we’d do our part in sharing some of these with you, once per week. Continue reading after the break for the list of our other favorite and noteworthy posts from last week.
