The vest has surged back in popularity recently, so what about the waistcoat? What the hell is a waistcoat? Well, it’s a fancy way of saying “vest,” but it characterizes a specific kind of vest: one that has a full vertical opening in the front, fastened with buttons or snaps. The waistcoat is a play on the old-fashioned vest of old, when a three-piece suit was the norm no matter what time of year. Band of Outsiders‘ recent line pulls inspiration from these turn-of-the-century styles, and their houndstooth waistcoat is not to be missed. With a deep scoop neck (perfect for guys with thinner frames), four flapped front pockets and a front-button plaquet, it meshes style with convenience. A full satin back and inside lining for durability are standard perks and the buckled rear belt helps to fully “tailor” the size for the perfect fit. A good outdoor summer look, with or without a coat.
