
The ads (You probably remember them from the ’90s) are classic beyond comparison– like the brand, the definition of cool before it’s cool. The logo, no joke, deserves mention with the greatest designs in fashion history; Gucci, Chanel, YSL, Ralph Lauren and the like included. And, the t-shirts–ill as they come. After 27 years, Stussy is still the freshest, most broad streetwear brand on the planet. Surf, skate, rap, ska, punk, new wave, beach– no brand has captured the essence of these subcultures more precisely. More importantly, Stussy was able to pinpoint the aesthetic and philosophical links between all of them, chain ‘em together and throw ‘em in the blender. In 1980, founder Shawn Stussy, a local board shaper in Long Beach, started putting his logo on t-shirts, and the rest is history.
