Sony’s super-thin OLED television

Wednesday, October 8, 2008 11:02AM - By Emily Price

Sony has unveiled a prototype OLED television less than a millimeter thin. The .9mm thin television was on display at Ceatec in Japan. Organic Light Emitting Diode televisions use an organic material to emit their own light, which means they don’t need a backlight, and can be much thinner than other sets. They also use less power, and can handle fast moving images better than comparable sets-not to mention, they look pretty cool. No word on when we can see the set for sale. [sony via PCWorld]
