Best of Last Week: The LivingHomes Prefab
Monday, July 28, 2008 8:00AM - By Mike Payne

Last week, GearCrave featured four of our favorite modern prefab homes in a week of special features. Our favorite prefab home covered last week is the LivingHomes RK1, the amazing modern home shown above that is priced out from only $852k. Designed by architect Ray Kappe, the RK1 is manufactured in the LivingHomes factory, then shipped to your home site in modules. This technique allows for a lot more control of the building environment, plus much lower expenses. If you’re new to prefab architecture, you really need to check out our coverage from last week. We’ll share the four that we covered last week, then our other weekly favorites after the jump.
- The LivingHomes RK1 build in Santa Monica (shown in the picture above)
- An interview with Michelle Kaufman, designer of the GlideHouse, BreezeHouse and many other prefab projects.
- The Marmol Radziner Hidden Valley prefab, a beautiful desert custom prefab.
- The Alchemy Architecture WeeHouse line of prefabs, as exhibited by a build in Minnesota.
- Hot Swedish Beauty: the Koenigsegg CCX supercar…
- With the Kill Time Gun Mug, ask your coffee-fiend co-workers: “do you feel lucky, punk?”
- Need to make an awkward phone call? Use SlyDial, it’ll send you straight to the recipient’s voice mail.
- There’s a new Lotus, ladies and gents. The Lotus Evora.
- GearCrave’s girl of the week was the lovely, the talented, the wordly Sarah Shahi.
- David Beckham kicked off the Soccer All Star Game with these sweet Adidas Predators.
- Last, if you want to get away, we suggest Cinque Terre and Portofino Italy.
