Best of Last Week: GearCrave’s Fresh New Look and Feel

Monday, June 30, 2008 9:00AM - By Mike Payne

Last week, we launched GearCrave’s new design, a layout we had been working on for quite some time.  We asked you what you thought, and the response was a resounding “yes!”.  We’ve got a few more tweaks to work out, we’ve got some older images to fix and some other tasks ahead.  We’re happy about this design, and look forward to building a better, stronger GearCrave in the future.  Want to help?  Tell your friends about us!  If your friends are anywhere near as cool as you are, we’d be honored to have ‘em around.  Send ‘em an email, shoot ‘em an IM, welcome them to GearCrave.  Until then, continue reading below for GearCrave’s favorite articles from last week.

  • We featured a ThinkGeek giveaway last week, sharing our five favorite ThinkGeek products and giving away five $50 gift certificates to the geekiest store on the web.
  • We interviewed James McAvoy, star of the smash film Wanted (and co-star to Miss Angelina Jolie).
  • Since our California and Washington readers are gonna get ticketed if they drive with handset mobile phones, we featured a very-cool bluetooth enabled car stereo with a speakerphone.
  • For GearCrave’s second Girl of the Week column, we featured the lovely, the talented, the crazy-smart Natalie Portman.  Grrrowl…
  • I posted a film I’ve been watching as a kid, “C’était un rendez-vous”, a crazy cannonball trip through downtown Paris in a classic Ferrari.
  • Like classic mod furniture?  Like skateboarding?  Check out the Skate Study House designs, amazing!
  • The IV pot mixes high design and practical functionality, albeit a little spooky.
  • Last, we seriously needed a getaway this last weekend.  If we could have gone anywhere, it would have been Acapulco.
