GearCrave Interview: Elisa, Designer of Vintage Red
As we closed our Vintage Red giveaway yesterday, we had a chance to speak to Vintage Red’s designer, getting some insight into their brand and its Spring ‘08 collection. GearCrave sat down with Elisa and talked about how the design came together, its inspirations, and why our readers will want to take note… Continue reading for more!
What kind of a man wears Vintage Red?
One who is confident with his own style. One who sees clothing as design elements that he has the liberty to arrange. I think the man who wears Vintage Red appreciates: playful sparks, getting dressed and flirting with different looks.
Your clothing has a classic Euro feel to it, especially the style Military Neutrals and the South of France look. What elements of that style have become signature for Vintage Red?
It may be the converse. It is the signature elements that we infused into these collections, as we do with them all. Those signatures are consistently based in fabric, color and wash. I would agree that you could attribute a Euro feel to our collections. If you look at the span of the brand you’ll see that we hop onto other continents as well.
You’ve been featured in magazines like GQ, Maxim, Playboy and Details. What is the most kind compliment that has been paid to you in the press?
A clear desire to see more of the Vintage Red product.
Beyond the casual wear Vintage Red creates now, do you plan on extending your lines into new areas?
Yes, it’s an exciting prospect to see the brand evolve and expand. We’ll continue to build on the casual, but have also been branching out into other classifications, such as outerwear.
What is in store for the future of Vintage Red?
First up is to solidify the recognition of Vintage Red so as the brand matures it can have organic expansion.
What other designers to you most admire?
I admire design more so than any particular designer. I admire when the opportunity to be in the creative process is fully embraced. To add to that, I enjoy work that uses the classic as a foundation and expands out of or off of that.
GearCrave’s focus is to showcase the coolest gadgets, gear, entertainment, design and style on the web. Beyond style, we’d like to talk more about what you’re craving on the web right now.
Information. The web has made me an information junkie. It’s a bit of a problem, but I’d like to think I’m learning a lot.
What is the must-have gadget in your life that you can’t live without?
Café pressé. Because I can’t live without coffee and this makes the tastiest coffee.
What car do you wish you had in your garage right now?
One that did not require fuel, that has fantastic speakers.
What was your favorite movie of 2007?
Hmm, that seems like a long time ago. I’ll have to think about it.
What home gadget/appliance is making your life a lot easier right now?
Sonicare tooth brush. It’s a much calmer way to get your teeth clean, and effective too. Plus, I can do some leg exercises while I stand there and it brushes my teeth.
What album is hopelessly stuck in your head right now?
Music is so moody. It’s more like a juke box in my head.
Thanks again Elisa, and thanks to Vintage Red for getting involved with GearCrave and sharing their gear with GearCrave readers. Vintage Red gave away two pieces to two lucky GearCrave readers– and they’ll now be dressing all the better… Check out Vintage Red for more.
