GearCrave Giveaway: 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator and SpaceExplorer

Earlier today, GearCrave reviewed the new 3Dconnexion 3D mouse controllers. Our friends at 3Dconnexion were kind enough to send a few of these our way to review and give away to three lucky GearCrave readers. That said, we’d like to invite you to join us and receive a free 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator or SpaceExplorer courtesy of GearCrave and our good friends at Logitech-owned 3Dconnexion. Continue reading below on how you can win your very own controller of the future. And if you’re new to GearCrave, stick around– we announce a new giveaway each week!
To qualify for a free 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator (2 available) or a SpaceExplorer (1 available), you must sign up and comment. Here’s how:
- Sign up for the GearCrave email newsletter. (you can do so here)
- Comment on this page– tell GearCrave how you’d use the 3Dconnexion controllers, and what you think about them.
It’s that simple. Best of luck GearCravers, and thanks to our friends at 3Dconnexion for joining GearCrave in this great giveaway. This contest will end on Sunday, May 18th 2008 at 11:59p.m. Winners will be announced the next day. Good luck!

How would I use them? I’d start off with the obvious uses such as 3d modeling and the like, and then try and find creative uses for them in other applications.

I’d use it to navigate Reason and Cubase more easily, so I could make sweet beats for my dancexcore band, iloveyounohomo. Rawwww!!!

It works with ArcMap and ESRI tools to some degree, sign me up!

I will use this for this and that. Will this work with Motion or After Effects somehow.
Monday, May 12, 2008 5:17PM
Actually, I don’t want to use it, it makes me want to hang it in an art gallery.
Monday, May 12, 2008 5:41PM
I won’t lie I’d probably use it to play WOW and City of villains.

CAD, CAD, and more CAD. I always wonder why there aren’t more things like this, optimized for various apps.

i’d use this for some computer games, and modeling software. i could also use this to amaze friends, or pretend i’m in a futuristic spacecraft.

Never heard of this until just now, but definitely awesome. I’m a data visualization programmer and this would give me a killer ability to present ideas.

I’m a civil engineer, I need to get one of these. My right hand is on the straight line to carpal tunnel syndrome and I need to do something to avoid getting under knife.
I already use a trackball but with 2 screens and huge models it’s a pain to navigate around. One of these should speed up things and let me split the effort on both hands.

Dunno how I’d use it, but I’d figure out a way!

I am a medical device engineer. After weeks of campaigning, I was able to convince upper management to give us engineers access to solid modeling software for design and prototyping work. This controller could revolutionize the way we design and virtual-prototype our devices. There’s a very good chance that one such device will be used to improve, or even save your life!

I am a BIMminator… or a BIMbo as others refer to me. Contrary to popular belief belief BIM doesn not stand for Broccoli Informatin Management, it stands for Building Information Modelling, so I spend a lot of time in the 3D programs spinning stuff around and a 3D Connexion Pilot would make that a lot mo easier than using my mouse. Hook me up! Does it come with Dramamine?

How would I use this? I am currently a freshman in college and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and this would help with my 3d design projects.

Hey, with one of these I don’t have to feel the force anymore.
Can finally put a foot up the muppet’s ass.
I love you dad.

First, I would fly all over google earth looking for ladies of ill repute — yes, I would use the 3d Connexion device to superman hos.
After that, I’d probably mess around with it in a gaming/FPS environment, see how the one-handed nav is for the pan/tilt controls on a couple choice DVDs, take a wetnap to it and sell it on ebay.

Interesting…
I’d have to actually see it to believ it.

My husband owns a taxidermy business and we could definitely use it for working on some of his work in three dimentional. It could redefine the way he does things at the shop…
Great contest!!!!

This is fantastic! I’ve been looking for a good mouse replacement after ours broke because the kids spilled coke all over it, haha. I think these things are great, especially when it comes to gaming and CAD.

We’re buying our son a laptop for graduation and he’s totally into WOW so this would make his gaming experience truly come alive!
