Modern furniture hasn’t changed a lot in recent history. Most new designs take much of their character from pieces of the past, existing as little more than a derivative of an idea conceived long ago. Every once in a while a concept is birthed that cracks the mold and breathes fresh air into our collective living room (a la Howard Roark). The Sitscape Couch by Hackenbroich is just one of these. This massive, versatile couch extends nearly 20 feet in length from one end of your room to the other. Made from segmented wood connected by thick cabling that acts as support, the Sitscape Couch has as many seating positions as the body has shapes of rest. While the Sitscape is primarily a concept piece, you can expect this one to hit production for those with deep pockets… and then be copied for decades to come.
