Uhuru Design Bilge Lounge
Modern furniture design has take a bit of a back seat since the 50s, perhaps even the 20s. Classics by Bertoia, Van Der Rohe and Breuer hold the most original inspiration to this day. Where are the new designs, the new revolutionary pieces of furniture? Are we to assume that progression in design halted in 1960? Uhuru design argues quite the opposite with their Bilge Lounge chair. Design critics would point out the rough framework of the above design, but its format is natural, new, bold and fresh. Here’s where Uhuru will blow your mind– that lounge chair above is made entirely from a barrel. The wood planks, metal frame– all the pieces of a barrel. Anyone who feels that inspiration died in the 50s are due for a rude awakening… You can’t get this one in your living room quite yet, as this piece is still a concept by our friends at Uhuru. Click on that buy link below to bug them a bit and get this damn thing into production…
