The ultra-mod Sputnik has 24 arms with 12 chrome lights and 12 chrome balls; it can be used as either an eye-grabbing table lamp or a placed on the floor. It stands 23 inches high, measuring about 14 inches around without the chrome bulbs. You’ll need to locate a voltage adapter for this one as it was designed in Europe, but why should the EU have all the cool decor? Designed by Paul de Haan, this sells for just under $400 US.

This is a gorgeous lamp and, surprisingly a lot like that which my brother had over his dining room table in 1958. Still an interesting design, I’ll have to look and see if there are any here in Phoenix.
