The ads (You probably remember them from the ’90s) are classic beyond comparison– like the brand, the definition of cool before it’s cool. The logo, no joke, deserves mention with the greatest designs in fashion history; Gucci, Chanel, YSL, Ralph Lauren and the like included. And, the t-shirts–ill as they come. After 27 years, Stussy is still the freshest, most broad streetwear brand on the planet. Surf, skate, rap, ska, punk, new wave, beach– no brand has captured the essence of these subcultures more precisely. More importantly, Stussy was able to pinpoint the aesthetic and philosophical links between all of them, chain ‘em together and throw ‘em in the blender. In 1980, founder Shawn Stussy, a local board shaper in Long Beach, started putting his logo on t-shirts, and the rest is history. Now, from London to Paris to Tokyo to L.A. to N.Y., Stussy has cache everywhere. It’ s emblematic of why American subculture is still the worldwide arbiter of cool.

Hawkings Sunglasses from Tom Ford

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

In case you didn’t know, Tom Ford is a badass. The clothing designer’s ads are racy, ballsy and incredibly sexy. So wouldn’t you expect the guy to make a killer pair of shades? The Hawkings line is one of Ford’s summertime gems, available in a host of different styles and trims. This tortoise shell version is easily the coolest (you can dress ‘em up in a suit or wear ‘em down in your trunks) of the bunch. For the indecisive ones out there, there are four different color combos to choose from. Go with either the Light Havana/Shiny Rose combo (perfect for sunny days) or Brown Horn/Semi-Matte Metal, which is a bit more formal.

Buy: $455.
