Yesterday, Gizmodo asked their readers about their electricity bills from last month. We’re curious as well– how much are you paying out each month in electricity bills? If you’re like us, you’ve got a whole lot of gear to power. We’ve got several computers, tvs, game consoles, hell– even a large hadron collider. However, we don’t feel that a big electrical bill gives us bragging rights. So share with your GearCraver friends, what did you pay last month for your electrical bill?

This week, GearCrave has found one hell of a Friday bargain. No, we’re not talking about a deal on New York Knicks tickets– you can get those for free in some places. We’re talking about the New York Knicks, the team. Yesterday evening, the Wall Street Journal begged the question: is it time to sell the Knicks? In just one season, the Knicks franchise operating losses exploded from $4.6 million to $19.7 million. In one year, their operating losses quadrupled. GearCrave’s New York readers, basketball fans or not, will certainly know the familiar tune of Knick knocking, but the Wall Street Journal brought up a legitimate point. New York sports fans want more to celebrate than the Giants and the Yankees. The Knicks are due for a turn-around, and we think YOU might be the guy to do it. Hunter Thompson once called the Kentucky Derby “Decadent and Depraved“. A Kentucky native himself, Thompson was all too familiar with The Derby when asked to cover it for Scanlan’s Monthly. We highly suggest reading Thompson’s coverage of the event, as it is a brilliant and accurate picture of just what the Kentucky Derby is really about. We also suggest taking one step further: get yourself a last-minute flight to Louisville, Kentucky and experience The Derby for yourself. This is one of those unique sporting events that every American should experience at least once before they die.

Thompson described two different sides of the Kentucky Derby, the classic rich/poor class perspectives from which this great race is viewed. In the upper Grandstand, the aristocracy sips fine, craft whiskey in comfortable air conditioning. In the infield, a “lewd, drunken mass” parties through the event with riotous celebration. If Thompson’s report holds true today, we suggest doing both. Spend half of the event with some fine, Kentucky Bourbon in the Grandstand before heading to the infield for the main event.
