The Cirrus Vision SJ50 Jet
Back in November, we covered the news about the Eclipse Personal Jet, a jet aircraft that shattered the price barrier and brought jet speed and performance within the reach of well-financed hobbyists. The Cirrus Vision SJ50 Jet shares quite a bit of influence with the Eclipse, yet the Cirrus model gives more attention to cabin size and luxury. Taking even more inspiration from prop aircraft by Cessna, the Cirrus swaps that prop for a rear-mounted jet, providing an unprecedented amount of power for a small aircraft. The SJ50 can climb to 25,000 feet at a cruising speed of 350mph and a range of 1,180 miles. While the Cirrus won’t climb as high or as fast as the Eclipse, the Cirrus is the ultimate in “sport utility jets”, whereas jet performance and family transport are both achieved quite successfully.
