A chest strap monitors heart rate and transmits the data up to 25 inches to the accompanying watch, compatible Polar exercise equipment and most treadmills and stationary bikes. I can see the use in that if you want to run on the treadmill and get your heartrate without keeping both hands on the machine. Other features include user profiles to keep tabs on burned fat and calories and an intelligent training program for getting the best workout possible.
