Get in Your TV Screen with iPoint

Fans of interactive, 3-D television technologies brace yourselves… The iPoint 3D promises to be a huge step in the right direction when it’s officially unveiled at CeBIT next week. Produced by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the iPoint utilizes a 2-camera recognition module that can be suspended from the ceiling above the user. The cameras detect movements from the user in real time and relay them to a computer, allowing you to instantaneously interact with the display sans special gloves or controllers of any kind. Sound familiar? MIT recently announced a similar technology called MIT’s Sixth Sense which we covered earlier this month. While this could be huge for entertainment and gaming, the company also cites a variety of more practical applications in office and kitchen space– and even operating rooms. This is one to keep an eye on. [Engadget]
