mt table Ideum shows off new museum tables

Ideum is showing off a new interactive table to be used in museums. The MT Table is set to first hit the scene in museums in Amarillo, Texas and Birmingham, Alabama. The device is essentially a 50-inch tabletop and will support both multi-touch and multi-user interfaces. Users will be able to interact with the table through its touchscreen, as well as manipulate images and media on the device to interact with programs.

The table is built out of aircraft-grade aluminum (so it’s going to be sturdy enough to handle the crowds), with built-in features including a media viewer, drawing application, Google Earth, and 3D model viewer. The idea is a pretty cool one. It could be really interesting to interact with Google Earth along with other applications, and do it all through a 50-inch touchscreen.  [via SlipperyBrick]
