Philips shows off a television with a 21:9 aspect ratio

Tired of having to adjust the size of your movies to fit your screen? Philips is showing off a new TV with a 21:9 aspect ratio, the same as many theatrical releases. The company claims 16:9 content will still “fill the screen.” Models are expected to hit the streets as early as the spring with a 56-inch display with no word yet on pricing or other sizes we could see come down the pipeline.  We’re curious not only about the film/tv applications of this television, but split-screen video game uses as well… [via Electronista]
