Light on the Wallet: New Offerings from Philips

Cheaper and smaller are not usually terms you like to hear in describing speakers and audio equipment. However, in the case of Philips new line, it may be just what you crave. In light of the economic downturn, Philips is slimming down its line of offerings and keeping it price-conscious. In fact, Philips skipped the fanfare of a big CES production and announced these in a small gathering at San Fran office space. Here’s some of what you’ll find come 2009. Check out the details on the full line after the jump, including networked music players, an iPhone boombox, the speakersystem shown above and more…
Stremium Network Music Players NP2500 and NP2900
Stream your music from all sources to this slim player—supports PC, internet radio feeds and international radio stations. The players upconvert compressed sound giving you the best audio possible from the sources mentioned. A limited app LCD screen allows you to view album art but won’t play video. $220 and $320 respectively.
DLO iBoom Jukebox
Another option for docking the iPhone/iPod, the DLO does it in style. Dual 1 in tweeters and 3 in woofers provide sweet highs and lows, while a radio frequency remote works up to 100 feet away—so if you happen to be across the yard when the Lil’ Mama song that your sister slipped onto your iPod comes on, you’re saved. $200.
Docking Entertainment System DC350
Since you’ll be working overtime to compensate for the crunching demands of a slumping economy, why not enjoy some music while there. The DC350 docks your iPhone or iPod, syncs with your computer calendar and allows for hands-free conference calls. All in a day’s work for just $150.
Multimedia Speakers 2.1 SPA5300
A pretty basic looking set of speakers, these will work with the audio source of your choosing. No price available as of posting.
