Japanese Inventors Turn Umbrella Into a Giant Speaker
By Alex Ion
The Japanese are trying to make those rainy days more pleasant. They’ve designed an umbrella that not only does what umbrellas are built for, but also acts as a giant speaker and plays your favorite music. Dubbed Oto-Shigure, this bamboo and paper umbrella features a built-in amplifier and four small “satellites” located at the tips of it, to create a three-dimensional sound bubble only heard by its holder. The inventors Yusuke Kamiyama and Mai Tanaka plan to sell it for $100 if people turn out to be interested. Though I’m not against the idea, I can’t see it better than using a normal umbrella and an iPod. Do you? [via Gizmodo]
