Circuit City Loses 155 Stores, Remaining Shred of Dignity

Its all your fault.  If you had added that Circuit City Advantage Protection Plan to that stereo you bought last year, none of this would have happened.  But seriously, the long-time temple of technosuck is shutting the doors on 155 of its stores throughout the US, saying goodbye to 17% of its workforce.  As a result, Circuit City’s stock climbed a whopping 40% at the time of posting… but that 40% is also just ten cents.  The NYSE has threatened to remove Circuit City from its trading floor, as it has traded under $1/share for over 30 days.  This blogger never liked Circuit City much.  While we’re not happy that all those employees will be looking for new jobs, we can’t bring ourselves to shed even a single tear for this poorly managed retail giant…  Did a store close in your area?  Here’s the list (PDF).  Enjoy the liquidation sale!
