Printing OLEDs Cheap, Good for Anything

oled rolled project Printing OLEDs Cheap, Good for Anything

Finland’s VTT Technical Research Center, along with a few other European developers, are working their tails off on a project that will make OLED printing affordable. Hell, they even used the word “cheap”. Using a regular roll-to-roll printing technology that speeds up the whole printing process, the OLEDs will be as thick as about three or four sheets of paper and could be used for just about everything. Now don’t get us wrong, they’re more into product packaging and business cards, but also said the technology may be used along with some sort of sensors that measure the freshness of wrapped food in your local supermarket. Let’s hope everything goes well with these guys– because if so, in a couple of years we’ll be using it. [via OLED-Display.net]
