As a PS: to my other comments about modular housing, or "prefab" as some like to call it......

Prefab used to be an insult. Today it cannot be.

Prefabricated means the building is done in a fully controlled atmosphere to very strict dimensional control. Result: very high quality - and this is the part I left out, lower cost for the purchaser.

Not only is this a most impressive design it also has created an appealing living space that will weather the test of time very well.

What is often missed, about the concept of "prefabricated" housing is the construction process itself. I think it important that the method of building these structures is done to "jig" fixtures.
In other words each segment is laid out on a grid that forces the piece (even an entire wall) to fit within the confines of the jig fixture. This method enforces the accuracy of the segment to be of a very high level, whereas regular construction of a segment is quite variable due to circumstances that cannot be as well controlled. Result: terrifically high quality. Compared to "hand built" housing, this wins hands down.

Excellent article on this subject. I'll be looking for more.
